When was the last time you did something just for you?

Take time for yourself on a very special women's only retreat in one of my favourite places in the world - Ibiza.

Through our twice-daily yoga practice we will spend the week exploring the five Koshas, or layers of the body - from the outermost physical layer, to the innermost spiritual layer. Each day we we delve deeper together, unwrapping this greatest of gifts, our own body. 

A space for women

Sisterhood is a strong and special bond that's easily lost. It's easy to compare ourselves with other women, to feel we are in competition, and to feel jealous and inferior. When we set ourselves against each other it can be difficult to form close bonds and connections but something magical happens when women celebrate and support one other. 

You might be lucky enough to have a sister you're close with (maybe you will bring her with you!) or you may have female friends and loved ones in your life who have been there to love you, laugh with you and cry with you on your own journey. I hope you will bring those wonderful memories and experiences into the group and create new ones with the beautiful women we will bring together for this retreat. This week is an opportunity to create a women's circle. To share with each other, to support one another and to take steps forward on our journeys together. 

With sisterhood in mind, I'm so excited that I get to introduce you to my little sister Zara who will be joining us to offer resistance training and pilates that will enhance our yoga practice throughout the week. She is a qualified fitness and pilates instructor and personal trainer with a qualification in sports nutrition.

Zara and I have been on our own well-being journeys over the past ten years or so, both of us finding our own authentic ways to move and get comfy in our bodies. We've had ups and downs, successes and things that haven't gone so well but we've been there to support one another. Now we'd like to create a space for you to continue your own journeys in wellbeing wherever they may lead you.

What's included?

The retreat includes: 

  • Six 2-2.5 hour vinyasa flow yoga classes to enjoy each morning

  • Five 1.5 hour evening practices including Restorative yoga, Meditation, Mantra and Yoga Nidra (there will be no class on Wednesday evening to leave time for a longer daytime excursion and a dinner outside the villa)

  • Five 1 hour body weight, resistance band training or pilates sessions

  • Seven nights accommodation

  • Seven nutritious homemade vegetarian brunches and dinners

Guests on the retreat come from a diverse range of yoga backgrounds and experience, and classes will be suitable for those with at least 6 months regular practice.

The Venue

I'm so pleased to have found this venue for our time together. Villa Ganesh is located a few minutes walk from Cala Nova beach in the North-East of the island. The beach is a quiet, unspoilt blue water, white sand beach that is the perfect place for a spot of sunbathing and time alone or with the company of others from our group. 

The villa sleeps sixteen people in one double ensuite room, two twin rooms, one triple rooms (double + single beds), one triple ensuite room and two luxury two-person bell tents in the gardens. We have run of the villa including a well appointed living room and kitchen and an outdoor yoga area as well as a pool with plenty of space to lounge if the beach doesn't take your fancy. If we are unlucky with a spot of rain (unlikely in June) we have ample space to take a class or two under cover. 

The villa includes:

  • Indoor kitchen, outdoor kitchen with barbecue

  • Laundry facilities

  • Spacious beautiful Swimming pool with sunbeds

  • Tree-shaded wooden Yoga deck 

  • Huge garden with forest with loads of places to chill out alone or with friends

  • Huge sunny terrace

  • SUP boards available to rent

  • Plenty of parking for cars

The vibe

This is a yoga retreat holiday rather than an ashram-style retreat. You will be here to relax, enjoy good healthy food and friendly conversation. You are welcome to bring sensible amounts of alcohol into the villa to enjoy a glass or two with your evening meal but drugs and smoking are not permitted. Late night partying on the island is also not encouraged otherwise you will miss our wonderful morning sessions together!

Location

If you haven't been to Ibiza and you're concerned it's going to be full of 'lads on tour', fear not! It is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt Spanish islands. The north, where we will be based, is especially beautiful and rugged and you would be surprised to know revellers are clubbing their hearts out only about an hours' drive away. 

Ibiza is known for it's boho vibe and bohemian residents as well as stunning beaches, delicious food and fruity sangria. 

Investment
  • £875 for a large shared double room with ensuite

  • £860 for a large shared triple room with ensuite

  • £840 for a shared twin/double room

  • £820 for a shared twin or £800 for a shared triple room (double bed + single - perfect if you're coming with friends you don't mind sharing a bed with)

  • Shared twin or double bell tent (FULLY BOOKED)

Spaces in each type of room are limited. The bell tents are also available for single occupancy at £1000 for the week. 

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking and the balance is required 3 months before the start of the retreat. Payment plans are available - please get in touch if you need to spread the cost.

I recommend you bring your own yoga mat in your suitcase although some yoga mats will be available at the villa.

Logistics

You are welcome to arrive from 5pm on the 1st June 2019. There will be a welcome dinner that evening. I will set up a Facebook event for the retreat as it might be nice to fly with others and/or to arrange to share a transfer to the villa on arrival. Transfers can be arranged on your behalf closer to the time. Zara and I will fly ahead so we can be ready to welcome you all when you arrive.

You may like to rent a car for your stay. If you're travelling alone and think you might like share of a car so you can explore the island, let me know and I can put you in touch with others who might also like to share a rental car. 

On Saturday 8th June 2019 there will be a morning yoga session and brunch as usual, we will need to check out of the villa by 11am.

Everyone booking the retreat must have full travel insurance.

What's not included?

The retreat doesn't include:

  • Transfers to and from the airport

  • Flights or travel insurance

  • Excursions or day trips

  • Dinner on Wednesday night

  • Extra treats and activities​

  • Taxis to and from places locally

  • Massages or Reiki with Ayesha (available to book separately)

  • Personal training with Zara (available to book separately at half her usual rate £30 per hour instead of £60)

A note from my co-host and little sis Zara

I'm looking forward to spending time with you next year! The sessions I'm leading are designed to enhance your yoga practice by isolating and strengthening specific muscle groups throughout the week. Yoga is a great all-body strengthening practice but it can leave your body compensating - strong muscles kicking in to help the weaker ones. I'm excited to share how other more targeted exercises could help bring more strength to your body and your practice. 

Just a little about me... 

I struggled being overweight and unhappy about it through the majority of my teens. This only got worse when I started work, being 'office-bound' the majority of the time in my early twenties meant sitting down all day surrounded by sugary treats I couldn't resist.

Five years ago, I decided to make some big changes. I addressed what I was eating, and how much, and started exercising. After following various fad diets, I started to take an interest in fuelling my body with the right nutrients and strengthening my body through smart exercise and movement. Most importantly I found a way to love exercise and what it does for my body, mind and spirit. 

As a PT I'm particularly passionate about working with women to help them feel stronger, happier and healthier. For me feeling strong in life starts with feeling strong in our bodies. They are our temples after-all!
